Appearancesis a glass sculpture that takes full advantage of the optical properties of glass. It is basically an architectural effort at creating shape is a very dynamic way. Two flattened prisms are affixed to the central colored core composed of two colors of dichroic glass combined with leaded glass, which together create surfaces which refract, refract, and change the inherent vibrancy of the whole. It measures 11x11x5 and is affixed to a plate glass circle that sits in the recessed top of the spinning anodized aluminum base.
Images within the glass or in the environment are made visible and then not as the piece spins on the anodized aluminum base. Vantage point is everything. What we view will change depending on our perspective. Phenomena will change and our relationship to them change, as do we. So it’s all about the moment, and being in the dance. And embracing it.
