Measuring 11x11x9, Character I Cube is a visual feast of what glass as a medium has to offer. The blue and magenta dichroic glasses provide the color base. Character symbols are sandblasted into those glasses and enhance the mystery that is inherent in an object that reflect and refracts like this one does. It's first assembled as a cube, polished on all sides, and then cut in half and reassembled with an optical wedge between the two halves. Lastly, it's ground and polished on the bottom and affixed to a circle of plate glass that fits into the recessed top of the spinning anodized aluminum base. It's a metaphor for things being deconstructed and then reassembled, sort of like an archaeological finding, an ancient vase put back together, creating something more precious and revealing it's integrity. Human beings and human things. Made in similar ways and having similar properties.
