Measuring 16x16x17, this deconstructed circle has been fashioned into a sculpture effusing with improbably balance and geometric tension. Layers of dichroic glass have been sandblasted with a graphic of squares and as they are put together the designs are flipped diagonally to create a secondary design that combines the two pieces. After the four colored cubes are assembled with clear glass around them, the entire piece is shaped into a circle and then cut apart, to be reassembled with optical elements acting as a bridge. A stick design has been sandblasted onto the outside of the piece to give it more presence and additional aesthetic tension. I love how the inner design is drawn out on to the edges of the circles and stretched to give it an entirely different sense of presence. The piece is a metaphor for how varying pieces can still compose a whole shape that our minds can put back together in a way that works for us.
